Get the Free CourseTHE MOST COMMON PROBLEMS I SEE THE VIDEOGRAPHER FACE:
- Not sure where to find clients and no plan for when they do. Some are only willing to try and get projects online rather than locally.
- Accepts every Short-Term, Low-Cost Project ($50- $500)
- Zero S.O.P documents (Standard Operating Procedures) making it difficult to be efficient and effective.
- Stuck in the "project to project" cycle creating a constant state of need.
- Lack of branding and marketing leading to no one online or locally knowing who they are.
Most of the time a videographer's lack of success has nothing to do with their experience, equipment or education. It comes down to their ability to be more than just a creative.
YOU HAVE TO BE THE CREATIVE OF YOUR PRODUCT AND THE ENTREPRENEUR OF YOUR BUSINESS.
THE THINGS I DID TO OVERCOME THE VIDEOGRAPHER.
-
I got involved in the local community by attending chamber events and connecting with high level entrepreneurs and leaders. I also went door-to-door in shopping malls pitching my services. I was very intentional about where I went and who I spoke to, really trying to find the connectors at each event. This allowed me to grow my network, eventually leading to my partnership with a marketing agency that changed everything for me.
-
I created content daily. At the time, all of my personal content was motivational, which helped me connect with the entrepreneurs I was hoping to work with. This became very helpful when getting more work but also practicing my craft. To this day, my content is still generating leads and opportunities.
-
I built a team. Rather than trying to do everything by myself, I hired individuals more talented than me to do it better. This not only helped my own sanity, but it drastically improved the quality and perceived value I was giving. Instead of struggle bussing a shoot so the client could afford it, we brought a team. Though the projects cost more, the value and deliverables we provide significantly increase and the client is actually more satisfied with the experience.
- I learned to use video as a tool to create a product for the client rather than only focusing on creating a video. If the client is needing content for social, we tailor our product to produce more deliverables. If they need staff training, we tailor it to be more informative. I was able to do this by getting really good at my craft through 10,000+ hours of execution and a lot of failures.
These 4 things helped me go from charging $50 for a workout video to $40,000 video projects for large brands and YOU CAN TOO!
